About us
Inspiring young minds to connect with their language and embrace the richness of India’s cultural heritage.
The Australian Hindu Multicultural Association Inc (“AHMA”) – School of Language, Arts & Culture, commonly known as the Western Sydney Hindi School (“WSHS”), operates from Quakers Hill High School premises on Sundays (during the mainstream NSW School Term).
WSHS (or “the School”) is governed by the School’s Parents & Teachers Association (“PTA”) through a set of PTA Rules that have been established by AHMA under its Constitution. The School has been running for almost 30 years and is proud of its accomplishments in our community.
The School runs Hindi classes and several Cultural subjects including Bharatanatyam, Harmonium, Tabla and Bollywood. WSHS introduced Meditation session for parents and grandparents of the School in 2022. The School is introducing Dholak in February 2023.
The classes are held between 10:00am and 2:00pm. Hindi language classes run for 2 hours, with a 20 minutes break at 10.50am. Cultural classes run at different times and last an hour each Sunday.
Founder of our School
The parent body, AHMA was established in 1993 with the aim of promoting social, religious, cultural and educational activities for the benefit of the communities with Indian heritage.
AHMA at its inception recognised the importance of education in language, arts and culture. In addition to establishing a Cultural Centre at 1050 Richmond Road, Marsden Park, the organisation also established the Hindi School in Western Sydney. The School has played a pivotal role in achieving the objectives of AHMA. The Hindi school had humble beginnings but today WSHS is well established and stands proud in its achievements and accomplishments.
The Hindi School was inaugurated in July 1994 with about 12 students and only a few teachers. The School commenced to operate from Doonside cottage, and moved to a handful of locations within Western Sydney, before finding its home at the modern premises of Quakers Hill High School in 2008
